Planner Release Notes V2.3

Planner Version 2.3

⚠️ Schedule Warnings

Even before the very first version of the Planner was ever released, there were plans to include some kind of warnings on the schedule. The idea was to let you know whenever you break some of the assumptions that you've set up.

For example, the Planner could let you know when you start a frac activity before drilling is finished, or have two drilling activities on a single drilling rig on your schedule.

Planner 2.3 introduces support for schedule warnings to let you know whenever something might be wrong.

Warnings

The orange wavy line under activities let you know if there's a warning. Even when you're zoomed out, these lines are relatively easy to spot, so you can quickly glance at your schedule to see if there are any problems. When you hover over an activity with these orange lines, you'll see a detailed list of warnings affecting that activity.

The kinds of warnings currently supported are:

Simops restriction warning

As always, the Planner will always try to generate schedules with no warnings. Because of this, you'll only see warnings when overriding start dates in a way that the Planner can't schedule around them, or for very complicated schedules that are over-constrained (e.g., there might not be a feasible schedule at all).

If you don't want to see warnings at all, or just want to hide them temporarily, there's a new option to hide warnings under "Display":

📅 Group Start and End Date

Many people prefer to use the grouped view for the schedule, where you might see multiple wells grouped together into a single pad, or fracs grouped together across a larger area.

Sometimes when you're working in grouped view you might want to quickly check the end date, or update the start date to a specific date, the same way you would if you were viewing individual activities.

Planner 2.3 allows you to set start dates, view durations, and view end dates for groups.

🔄️ Reordered Excel Schedule Export

Previously the Excel schedule export would order activities alphabetically. This works fine if the order doesn't really matter and you're just loading it into something else or reformatting it into a report.

Some people mentioned that it would be helpful if activities were ordered in the same way they appear in your asset templates (e.g., usually the chronological order you'd see the activities on the schedule). In Planner 2.3, activities use the asset template order, which should make it easier to sort through activities in schedule exports.

That's all of the release highlights for now! Please let us know if you have any questions or would like help integrating any of this new functionality into your plans.

There are plenty of internal changes as the Planner gets ready for the next few releases, so please stay tuned for more on that soon!
